Giving Back in a Pandemic

I don’t have to tell you about this pandemic- you’re living it.

We’re watching our industry- the one which I’ve called home for 40 years now- suffer furloughs, mass layoffs, and business closures. Friends are falling ill. Acquaintances are losing their livelihoods. Our entire way of life is in turmoil.

I can’t paint a rosy picture of these incredibly trying times, but can at least offer much-deserved praise to those who inspire me each and every day: doctors, nurses, cashiers, and waiters… and restaurateurs.

In New York City, Junzi’s Lucas Sin and his team have been hard at work feeding frontline hospital workers via Share a Meal. This program- one of a growing number in the city and across the country- provides nutritious meals to local hospitals at the hygiene standards required by this dire situation.

Acts like this inspire me; they inspire all of us at Artisan Food Group. That’s why we’ve decided to donate over 10,000 portions of our shelf-stable noodles to Mission Arlington and City Square Dallas- two institutions at the forefront of our own community- North Texas. We might be a small business- a young one, at that. But we can- and will- do our part.

This is a time for all of us to pitch in to support our communities. So, please: give back any way you can.

Best to you and your family,

Chef Albert
